Archaeozoological for AlUla Project (AZAP). Workshop 4th-5th September 2025, Paris

AZAP is back !

The Archaeozoological for AlUla Project (AZAP) hosted within the Jaussen and Savignac Research Center, and funded by the Agence française pour le développement d'AlUla - AFALULA on behalf of The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) is a research programme devoted to the archaeozoological study of the AlUla region in Saudi Arabia.

Started few months ago, it is now time for Hervé MONCHOT, who is leading the project, to present a progress update, which will take the form of a workshop on September 4–5 to be held at Afalula's agency in Paris.

Over the course of these two days, an overview of current research on human–animal interactions in AlUla (e.g., dietary practices, trade, palaeoethnography, etc.) will be presented.
Invited researchers and experts will present and discuss together on:
• Osteological materials studied or currently being studied from major archaeological missions in AlUla (e.g., Alula Old Town, Dadan, Khaybar, Hegra, etc.)
• Initial results from the study of these data
• Future topics of study and collaborations.
