VEPMO Team Seminar - Rock Art Between the Two Shores of the Red Sea
A great synergy within the Jaussen & Savignac Programme (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne et The Royal Commission for AlUla) ! Two of our doctoral contract students will exchange on the convergence of their research themes on "Rock art between the two shores of the Red Sea" as part of the seminar of the VEPMO ("From Village to State in the Near and Middle East") team of the joint research unit 7041 Archaeology and Sciences of Antiquity (ArScAn).
Elise Melão-Pinard (UMR 8068 TEMPS) will focus her presentation to ‘The rock art of the first pastoralists of the eastern Sahara (7th-4th millennia BCE): a study of the representation of habitat.’ Romy Vartin (UMR 7041 ArScAn, OrAM team) will then give a presentation on ‘Humans and animals: the evolution of relationships in rock art in Arabia.’ We look forward to the quality of their discussions!
The event will take place in Nanterre at the Maison des sciences humaines (MSH) Mondes (21, allée de l'Université) on Friday, 27 February 2026 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. (René Ginouvès building, 4th floor, Council Room).
