Presentation of archaeological missions in the Near East and the Arab-Muslim world

The Jaussen & Savignac Programme (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne et The Royal Commission for AlUla) promotes the work of archaeological missions in the Near East and the Arab-Muslim world. This initiative aims in particular to raise awareness among students of dynamic scientific topics and to encourage exchanges conducive to the completion of professional internships and university research projects.

From 20 February to 13 March 2026, a dozen researchers will present the archaeological missions they are organising in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Jordan, covering a vast chronological and cultural field from Prehistory to the Islamic period.

The events will take place in Paris at the Institut national d'histoire de l'art (2, rue Vivienne) on Friday 20 February 2026 (Giorgio Vasari room, 2pm-4.30pm), Friday 27 February 2026 (Walter Benjamin room, 2pm-5pm) and Friday 13 March 2026 (Walter Benjamin Room, 1pm-3pm).
