Jaussen & Savignac Off-site Seminar 2025 : a visit to the Marly Museum and Estate
Closing of this year's off-site seminar.
As last year, a visit was organised for participants in the Jaussen & Savignac Chair's off-site seminar (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and The Royal Commission for AlUla).
This year, Bruno Bentz, archaeologist, specialist in Marly and head of archaeological excavations since 1985, and Karen Chastagnol, director of the Musée du Domaine Royal de Marly, welcomed us for a tour of the museum and the Marly estate. This residence, designed from 1678 onwards by King Louis XIV and reserved for a select circle of friends, is now a unique archaeological site dating from the late 17th and 18th centuries. All that remains are the foundations of the château, archaeological studies to bring it to life and collections to revive this era.
After a final morning devoted to discussions and developing new projects, everyone will set off on their well-deserved holidays!
