Conservators-restorers of cultural property/or paintings in Skopje, North Macedonia
Lecturers and researchers at Paris 1 University on the Master's 1 Archaeology and Preventive Conservation course, part of the Jaussen & Savignac programme, Claire Betelu and @Charlotte Martin de Fonjaudran are providing training as TAIEX experts to their Macedonian restorer colleagues in Skopje, North Macedonia, from 25 to 28 November 2025.
This French–Macedonian collaboration, funded by the European cooperation programme TAIEX (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange), began two years ago at the request of the French Institute of Skopje. At that time, @Claire Betelu was then asked to carry out an exploratory mission with the aim of understanding her Macedonian colleagues' expectations in terms of continuing education.
This training course is therefore the second part of this collaboration.
On the agenda: methodological discussions on practical cases and presentation of the latest methods for cleaning wall paintings
This is not the first international collaboration for @Claire Betelu and @Charlotte Martin de Fonjaudran. This week marks the start of a new cycle of educational activities in the country, once again demonstrating their widely recognised expertise, which benefits students on the Jaussen & Savignac programme.
