Campaign for allocating Jaussen & Savignac PhD contracts 2026-2029

The Jaussen & Savignac Programme (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and The Royal Commission for AlUla) is inviting applications for five PhD positions (three-year duration) for the academic year starting in September 2026, two of which are specifically reserved for Saudi candidates.

Holders of a Master’s degree who have completed or are in the process of completing their degree in the 2025–26 academic year may apply for initial enrolment in a PhD programme for the 2026–27 academic year. There are no age or nationality requirements.

Thesis topics must be based on at least one of the six themes of the Jaussen & Savignac Programme: 
•   Environmental heritage: Oasis Landscapes
•   Conservation and Restoration in the Arabian Peninsula
•   Archaeology 2030: Archaeology and New Technologies
•   The Arabian Peninsula: Cradle and Melting Pot of Cultures and Religions
•   The Arabian Peninsula as a Crossroads between East, Africa and the Mediterranean
•   Epistemology and Historiography of Archaeology and Conservation in the East

The deadline for applications is Monday 1 June 2026 at 12:00 noon.
