International conference ‘Jemdet Nasr 1926–2026 : A Century of Investigation and Research’

The Jaussen & Savignac Programme (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and The Royal Commission for AlUla) is pleased to announce the holding of the international conference ‘Jemdet Nasr 1926–2026 : A Century of Investigation and Research’, one of the co-organisers of which is Hugo Naccaro, Jaussen & Savignac postdoctoral researcher.

The conference will take place from 2 to 4 June 2026 at the National Institute of Art History (INHA) in Paris. Twenty-four papers will be presented by some thirty researchers, leading to what are sure to be fruitful discussions centred on six themes: ‘Jemdet Nasr: The Site’ ; ‘Transition between the 4th and 3rd millennia BCE in Southern Mesopotamia’ ; ‘Jemdet Nasr Period: Views from Outside’ ; ‘Jemdet Nasr Tradition: Writing, Sealings’ ; ‘Unearthing the Jemdet Nasr World: Current Approaches and Fieldwork’ ; ‘Unearthing the Jemdet Nasr World: Old Sites and New Data’.
